1. What is a Thermostat?

A thermostat is a device that measures the temperature of a space and controls the heating or cooling system to maintain the desired temperature setting. Thermostats can be manually operated, programmable, or smart. Manual thermostats require manual adjustment of the temperature setting, while programmable thermostats allow users to set specific temperature schedules throughout the day. Smart thermostats can be controlled remotely via a smartphone app and can learn users' habits to optimize energy efficiency.
